Chorus Photos to be taken this Thursday and Friday
All Niceville chorus students will be taking their individual and class photos Thursday and Friday, January 26 and 27. This is a mandatory activity for each singer.
Former chorus parent, chaperon and booster, Sherri Butler of Sherri Butler Photography will be taking the photos. These pictures, both individual as well as the Select Women, Bel Canto, Kantorai, Opus One, Camerata and Niceville Singer photos,will be for sale at a date to be published here.
Photos will be taken during class. Students whose last name begins with A-S will take their photos on Thursday. Remaining students will take their photos on Friday. Group photos, or individual chorus photos, will be taken on Friday. Singers who are photographed on Thursday should plan to leave their uniforms in their lockers for use on group photos on Friday. Parents are asked to be proactive, helping their student to get their uniform together and out the door on the day scheduled for them to be photographed. Merits will be given to singers who are responsible, who get their uniform to school and who get into their uniform quickly when they arrive to class. Those who forget their uniform, who delay getting dressed when they arrive to class the day scheduled for them to take their picture, will receive significant demerits.
SPRING TRIP MANDATORY CHAPERON CLINIC is NEXT SATURDAY
Parents who want to chaperon the spring tour to Orlando, March 14 - 18, will need to plan ahead for the mandatory chaperon clinic scheduled for Saturday, January 28 at 9:00 AM. In addition to attending the chaperon meeting, parents must also qualify by chaperoning events such as all-county, all-state auditions, serving as a Ninja for the holiday show, supervising the district solo, the solo and ensemble mpa in February as well as at least four booster meetings (April 2011- March 2012).

"A Night in Naples" to be held at the 1st United Methodist Fellowship Hall on Saturday, February 18th. Reservations can be made from January 23rd to February 10th by contacting Betsy Gunn at pbgunn@cox.net or 428-2381. The evening includes a spaghetti dinner, silent auciton and musical entertainment by select chorus members. The cost of indivudual tickets is $20 or a couple for $35. This is a fundraiser for our chorus program. |

The Niceville High School Music Department provides 200 students with vocal training and music theory. Under the direction of Michael Dye the choral music department has developed a superior program.
Kantorai is the 9th grade womens choir where the training begins and meets 4th period.
Bel Cantos is the 10th grade womens choir and meet 3rd period.
Select Womens choir consists of junior and senior women and meets 2nd period. They have been one of the finest womens choruses in Florida since they were founded several years ago.
Camerata is the all male chorus with 55 participants and meets 6th period.
Opus One is the highest level chorus with 17 junior and senior members and meets 5th period. This show choir represents the best of the best at Niceville.
The Niceville Singers meet during a bonus period - 8th period. Singers is an auditioned choir of about 50 men and women. They are mostly juniors and seniors. All must be dedicated, hard working student-musicians.
In this difficult time of budget cutbacks the music department continues to provide a quality program. If you are interested in providing support of any kind to the performing arts at Niceville High School please contact us.
