Michael Dye is in his 20th year as choral director at Niceville High School, his 34th year as a choral music educator. A native of Arkansas, he received the Bachelor of Music Education Degree from Henderson State University and the Master of Music Education from Arkansas State University. He conducts all six of the primary choruses at Niceville High School and is the director of the choral music program. Mr. Dye serves as the Vice-President of the Florida Vocal Association, having completed his two-year term as President in June. His is married to Wanda Thomas Dye. They have two sons, Dr. Matthew Norton and Timothy Norton, an Opus One alum and senior Bachelor of Music Degree candidate in Musical Theater at Florida State University. Mrs. Leah Brown is beginning her 18th year as choral assistant and accompanist at Niceville High School. Born and raised in Laurel, Mississippi, she attended Mississippi State University. In her duties as choral assistant, she oversees many of the operations of the chorus and is the liaison between most booster committees and the choral music program. Mrs. Brown has three children, Monica Bondurant, Melodye McPherson and Matthew Brown who were all members of the Niceville Choral Music Program and Opus One. She is married to Dennis J. Brown, Minister of Arts and Worship at the First Baptist Church of Niceville. The chorus welcomes Ashley Goodman. The Baptist College of Florida has sent Ashley Goodman to Niceville High School as a choral intern for the spring semester. Ms. Goodman, who lives and has family in DeFuniak Springs and other northern Florida counties, is the daughter of Buddy and Tammy Goodman. Reverend Goodman is minister of music and youth at a Walton County church and Mrs. Goodman teaches elementary school in DeFuniak Springs. Ms. Goodman grew up surrounded by music. She attended many schools across the state and graduated from Walton High School. She was a three-year member of the prestigious Florida Reading Chorus. After high school graduation, Ms. Goodman was a part of the School of Music at Florida State University for three years, transferring to BCF in 2008. Ms. Goodman will be a integral part of the choral music program, teaching and traveling with the chorus this spring.
